Employment Opportunity - Associate Executive Director

Millbrook First Nation is seeking an experienced and collaborative Associate Executive Director (AED) to support the effective management of Millbrook’s administration, programs, and community services. Reporting to the Executive Director, the AED ensures that Council priorities and strategic initiatives are translated into strong operational plans and high-quality service delivery.

The AED provides leadership to a broad portfolio—including Health and Social Services, Governance, Education, Culture and Heritage, Employment and Training, Lands, Recreation, Communications, and Community Engagement—while fostering a positive workplace culture grounded in accountability, cultural safety, and community-centred values.

In this role, the AED will:

  • Oversee day-to-day administrative operations and support directors, managers, and staff.

  • Strengthen community relations through visible, respectful engagement.

  • Support budgeting, financial oversight, and compliance with legislation, bylaws, and funding agreements.

  • Contribute to strategic planning, policy development, and implementation of Council decisions.

  • Help maintain strong communication and coordination across the organization, Chief and Council, and community.

The ideal candidate brings leadership experience in administration or operations, a deep respect for Mi’kmaw culture and governance, and the ability to guide multidisciplinary teams in a complex and growing organization.
