OUR COMMUNITIES
Strengthening our roots, empowering our future
Welcome to our communities, where our shared heritage and collective strength shape the vibrant community we call home. Together, we honour our traditions while building a brighter future for all.
About Our Communities
Millbrook First Nation is home to a vibrant and growing Mi’kmaw community based in Millbrook, Nova Scotia, with several satellite communities and members located across the province and in other parts of the country and the United States. Each of these communities contributes to the cultural, economic, and social fabric of Millbrook, with members living and working both on and off-reserve.
Millbrook, Nova Scotia
Millbrook is the central community and administrative heart of Millbrook First Nation. Located just outside Truro, NS, it is home to the Millbrook Cultural and Heritage Centre, which showcases Mi’kmaw history, language, and traditions. The Millbrook Power Centre—a bustling commercial hub—features various Indigenous-owned businesses and services that support community development. Millbrook also hosts the Band Administration offices, community services, housing, recreational facilities and youth programming.
Cole Harbour
Millbrook’s Cole Harbour satellite reserve is located within the Halifax Regional Municipality, providing members with access to urban services, education, and employment opportunities. While smaller in size, this community offers an important connection to Mi’kmaw presence in the Halifax area.
Sheet Harbour & Beaver Dam
Situated along Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore, the Sheet Harbour community is home to Millbrook’s Lobster Pound, which opened in 2024 as a key step in expanding the Nation’s fisheries and economic development initiatives. The area’s coastal location and natural beauty make it a vital part of Millbrook’s growing land base and economic future. Beaver Dam is a quiet satellite reserve located inland from Sheet Harbour. Surrounded by forested land, it reflects Millbrook’s long-standing connection to the land and natural resources.
Millbrook’s Broader Community
Millbrook First Nation’s community extends far beyond the boundaries of our on-reserve lands. Many of our members and their families live in communities across Turtle Island, including in the United States and throughout the Atlantic provinces. We also have a vibrant community in Deer Lake, Newfoundland, which continues to grow and strengthen our broader network. No matter where they live, Millbrook members remain connected through shared history, culture, and kinship, and are always an important part of our Nation.
