Food as Medicine: Sharing Circle Graphic Illustrations
Millbrook First Nation has partnered with the Brueyere Institute and Queen’s University, as part of the national Food as Medicine research project. The purpose of the study is to examine the level of access that First Nation have to traditional foods while in long-term care facilities (retirement homes). The hope is that by better understanding the current standing of long-term care food options we can then improve the accessibility of traditional food access and the familiarity of food options.
The research team visited our community in the early fall to meet with Elders, Chief and Council and local food leaders. A graphic facilitator, James Neish (of SeeMeaning), captured the discussions through graphic facilitation to give the community a glimpse of the conversations that were had (see attached/below).
