Employment Opportunity - Summer Student Yard Maintenance Workers

Millbrook First Nation is seeking an effective and self-motivated applicants for the position of Summer Student Yard Maintenance Worker.

Position Summary: As a Summer Student Yard Maintenance Worker, you will maintain the cleanliness and visual appeal of community grounds. This role is ideal for students looking for full-time summer employment to gain hands-on experience in landscaping and community service. This is a seasonal full-time role, will start from July 2, 2026, till August 31, 2026. This role will be funded by METS.

Responsibilities and Duties

Lawn Maintenance: Mow and edge grass in community parks, boulevards, and residential areas using commercial-grade mowers and trimmers.

Site Cleanliness: Conduct daily "trash sweeps" across community properties. Empty public waste bins and remove litter or natural debris to ensure a safe environment.

Detailing & Trimming: Trim around fixed objects like trees, benches, and fences to maintain a polished look.

Operational Safety: Safely operate and perform daily checks on gas-powered equipment (trimmers, blowers, mowers). Ensure all safety gear is always worn.

Qualifications:

Must be actively enrolled in school at the time of application.

Must be a youth (age 15-30).

Must be a Millbrook Band Member or Status Community Member.

Comfortable performing manual labour in various weather conditions, including high heat and humidity.

Ability to interact politely with community members and work effectively as part of a crew.

Consistent attendance and punctuality are required to meet weekly maintenance schedules.

Salary: $18.15 an hour for 40 hours per week, plus 4% vacation pay.
