What is an emergency?

For a repair to be considered an emergency, it must be:

• Urgent

• Impact the occupant’s health and safety

• Put the building or property at risk

• Emergency repair examples:

• Broken pipe(s) are flooding the home.

• Major leak in the roof.

• The heating system is not working and it’s cold outside.

• The sewage system is backing up into the home.

• Electrical

• Broken exterior door.

Non-emergency repairs do not pose an immediate risk to the house and can be reported during regular business hours, it includes:

- The kitchen sink has a slow drain.

- A stove element is burnt out.

- Cosmetic repairs
