Committee Opportunity for Finance and Audit Committee

Are you a Millbrook Community member with financial competency and interested in supporting community finance and economic development?  Millbrook First Nation is seeking members to join the Finance and Audit Committee (FAC). 

About the FAC

The FAC serves as an advisory body, providing recommendations to the Chief and Council of Millbrook First Nation.  Responsibilities include:

-       Review of annual budgets and multi-year plans;

-       Quarterly review of performance against budget;

-       Annual audit review;

-       Review and recommendations for selection, engagement and performance for auditors;

-       Other duties as required.

The FAC committee consists of five members, two MFN Chief and Council representatives and three independent community members with financial acumen.  Independent means “does not have a direct or indirect financial relationship with the First Nations”.   Meetings are hybrid and allow for virtual or in-person meetings.  Meetings are a minimum of quarterly and would be between 6 and 12 meetings per year.

What we are looking for:

-       Experience in financial management, auditing and risk management;

-       Experience in Indigenous business development is an asset;

-       A CPA designation and/or a business degree are considered an asset.
