Employment Opportunity - Fisheries Technician Monitor
Millbrook First Nation is seeking an effective and self-motivated applicants for the position of Fisheries Technician/ Monitor.
Position Summary: The Fisheries Technician/Monitor provides field-level technical and monitoring support to Millbrook First Nation’s Fisheries Department, primarily delivering outcomes under the Food, Social and Ceremonial (FSC) and Livelihood Fishing Plans (aligned with RMOT funding criteria). As capacity allows, the role also supports the Commercial Fisheries Manager and the Vessel Safety and Fleet Coordinator under the direction of the Associate Director of Fisheries. This field-based role supports tag and database maintenance, monitors MFN harvester activity, and verifies catch landings at MFN landing ports across Nova Scotia, working closely with the FSC and Livelihood Manager and other Fisheries managers as directed. Monitoring activities are limited to MFN harvesters and operations; the role does not interact with non-MFN actors and has no enforcement authority. Any observed non-compliance is documented and escalated to the FSC and Livelihood Manager and the Associate Director of Fisheries.
Salary: 54K – 76K based on qualifications and experience.
